Tourism CS Najib Balala has disclosed that tourism is still the highest ranked Economic booster to Kenya and that within the next six months, the sector the country will earn Sh47 billion.
Speaking during a historic State House Tourism Summit held at State House Mombasa on Wednesday, the Cs said everything was going on well in the ministry and that under his leadership, they are looking up as the sector to move onto high season.
“Overall, we are seeing some progress in the sector. Our focus is full recovery by June 2018,” said Balala.
The summit brought together stakeholders from across the country to dialogue on ways to boost growth in the industry. Balala exuded confidence that the tourism industry is on a path to full recovery, saying figures show a positive trend with a 14 per cent growth recorded since the beginning of the year.
The Tourism Cabinet Secretary said the Government has focused on improving security, infrastructure and marketing in its plan to invigorate the industry.
“These are key enablers that will accelerate the recovery of the tourism sector,” the Tourism Cabinet Secretary said.
