The tourism industry players are hoping for peace this year for it will sustain their businesses and give a recovery path.

This is after a very long period of elections in 2017 which led to a slow down of international tourists bookings to Kenya due to the disputed August 8 presidential election results and which led to the repeat polls on October 26th.

Mohamed Hersi the Kenya Tourism Federation chairman stated that the sector might get back on its feet this year if calm sustained.

Hersi who is also the chief executive officer of Sun Africa Hotels noted that peace sustainability is of necessity for the booming of the tourism business and also added that the political leaders should prioritize peace keeping.

Individual hotel groups have gone ahead to market their products in leading travel shows which include the ITB Berlin Germany and the World Travel Market London. He also added that December was a better month which led to hotels and lodges recording better occupancy especially during the festive season.

The KTF boss noted that the marketing agency would allocate more resources on digital platforms by collaborating with the US travel website TripAdvisor and Google to get more holidaymakers from across the world.
