International tourists have continued to arrive in Mombasa amid rising political temperatures in the nation ahead of the fresh presidential election.

The number of tourists coming into the country reduced after the nullification of the  August 8 presidential election results by the Supreme Court affected the number of international and local tourists visiting this part of the nation.

On Wednesday, Condor (German), Neos (Italy) and Turkish Airlines (Turkey) touched down at the Moi International Airport with hundreds of tourists aboard.

Businesses in the region have also continued to reap from the arrival of tourists to the country as well as those on transit to the neighboring nations. Neo had 80 for the Kenyan market while 106 of were headed to Tanzania’s island of Zanzibar.

They were treated to dances among other forms of entertainment as hoteliers arrived at the airport to pick them. The current political situation in the country is likely to negatively affect industry as temperatures rise.

Several countries have issued travel advisories to their citizens, asking them to exercise caution before booking flights to Kenya following the decision of the Supreme Court. Stakeholders in the tourism sector have, however, maintained that there is no need for unnecessary tension.
