Organizing committee of the annual popular football tournament sponsored by Dr Nyandoro Kambi have come up with stiff regulations that will ensure football hooliganism is combated by a larger extent.
The regulations were unveiled by the coordinating committee chairperson Victor Obare and are set to apply indiscriminately throughout the season.
Speaking during a friendly Match between Manga Combined and Borabu Youths on Thursday at Nyagacho, Obare said the regulations will help the organizing committee comply with tough conditions set by FKF.
“We are coordinating a tournament that is more of a league and we had to seek permission from FKF. We were allowed with a condition that we maintain discipline of the highest order. That is why we came up with the regulations to ensure the tourney draws support from the football governing body,” he said.
The teams whose fans will be convicted of uncouth conduct will have to play in empty stadiums for three games in a row while teams whose players would generate a fight will also lose three points to their opponents.
“What we are really trying to control is hooliganism. Every team must be responsible to any misbehavior by its fans. In case of a violent conduct by the fans, the team will have to play in an empty ground for three games. A team whose players will be charged with violent conduct will also lose three points to the opponents,” he added.
Obare also said that players who will be engaged in violent conduct with match officials will receive a season-long suspension as a way of promoting discipline amongst the players.
