Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange has applauded the July visit to Kenya of US President Barack Obama saying it is a step to the right direction.
Koinange has said that USA is a traditional and a long standing partner of Kenya on several key issues among them being economic and security.
He now asks the two countries to make use of the July visit to further strengthen their ties and work for a common good.
"Obama's visit to Kenya in July is a red tick to the work the Jubilee government is doing to transform Kenya. We welcome him and request his country and ours to work towards strengthening their relations", said Koinange to journalists in Karuri, Wednesday morning during a project-inspection tour.
Koinange has also appealed to the US government to consider having direct flights to Nairobi noting that there is immense trading potential between the two nations.
"There are more than 30,000 Kenyans in America who are interested in doing trade in Kenya if only they could fly direct to Nairobi. If such an agreement could be signed it would help big,“ he said.
