The locals Wednesday said their health was increasingly getting risky following flooding at the market which has opened sewage running through it.

"We are staring at a cholera epidemic here. The market is now all mess because of the ongoing heavy rains with filthy water flowing freely. We need help from the county ministry of health to address the issue before it gets out of hand," said John Njoroge, a trader.

His sentiments were echoed by Lameck Ogechi who noted that virtually all the zones in the market was now affected by the dirt.

" We have to put up with foul smell thanks to the sewage which has since been buoyed by floods. It is  only a miracle that no cases of cholera have been reported because even foodstuff traders have also been affected by this calamity," he said.

Mary Kerubo, however, faulted the area landlords for directing sewage to the market and called upon the Health ministry to arrest them and charge them for threatening people's lives.
