Traders at the Homa Bay town main market are counting losses after a fire gutted the premise early Thursday morning.
The fire is said to have begun at 5am and authorities are yet to establish its cause.
Goods including clothes, electronic devices and food items are among merchandise business people lost during the incident.
Traders said they suspect the fire was triggered off by a faulty electric connection.
Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga visited the market and gave out aid in iron sheets, cement and timber to help rebuild the investment that houses hundreds of business stalls.
The same market caught fire one year ago but was contained before spreading.
“I made a modest donation to help them rebuild their businesses,” Wanga said in a message on social media after submitting her donation.
