According to their spokes lady Jane Nguyo, the business people will file a case against the county government on Monday.

She said that they demand to be compensated by the county government the losses they suffered due to the lockdown of the market

Nguyo revealed that the traders who sell perishable products incurred a lot of losses since nothing was sold on that day thus their products went bad while outside the market.

Madam Nguyo said that some of the business people lost their products in the stampede that ensued when the antiriot police ambushed and forced them out of the market.

“We are demanding compensation from the county government since a lot of people incurred lots of losses due to this incident. Some of the tomatoes were destroyed by the people when running from the police who ambushed them hauling teargas to them while all those who sell vegetables lost their orders since their products had already wilted by evening,” Nguyo said

“We have estimated the loss we incurred and have added to an amount not less than Sh 400,000 shillings which we demand to be compensated by the county government,” Nguyo added

For now calm has been maintained in the market area although the police are still on the ground taking charge and ensuring no demonstration happens again.
