Businessmen in Kisii County are calling on the county government to implement all the recommendations that were brought forward by a special task force formed to investigate the misunderstanding of the Kisii County Revenue Collection Bill 2014.

The special committee was formed to ease tension between the businessmen who were opposed to the new revenue collection rates and the county government.

Among the recommendations by the task force was that the county government and all business people in Kisii town appoint a team to take charge of revenue collection.

The county government was also asked to have a register that will show how the taxes are collected and the collectors.

The task force also added that revenue collected from the businessmen should not be more than the charges by other countries.

“As a task force, we sat down and decided not to settle the matter out of court and that is why we have come today with the harmonised document which is yet to be implemented,” said Walter Kiyondi, the chairman of the task force.

They also threatened to stop paying levies if the county government does not act quickly to implement the recommendations.
