Kisii Open Air market traders have challenged the Kisii County government through disaster management to compensate traders who lost their properties in last year's fire which set ablaze a section of the market.

Led by their chairman, Elijah Ombongi, they said the county government promised to compensate traders  but the system seems to be  slow on fulfilling their promise.

''We are appealing to the county government to consider the hardship of traders in this market are going through and compensate our traders with some money so that they can continue with their daily business,'' said Ombongi.

The chairman said the county needs to put measures in place, especially in emergency cases, so that traders can get help immediately the need arises.
