Traders in Maseno have lauded the county government’s effort to light up the market saying it will boost business.

Mike Ocholla a trader said the step will boost his business saying he had been forced a number of times to close early despite the many customers during the evenings.

“Most of the customers who are students come as from 7pm to buy foodstuffs,” said Ocholla.

Martha Awinja said they have been waiting for the move for the past two years since the existing lighting system broke down but now she is pleased that their cry has been heard.

“We have been waiting for the past two years but our cries have been heard, thanks to the county government for the move,” said Awinja.

The project is expected to boost business in the region and most traders are expected to take advantage of the opportunity.

“I was used to using torches during night times which inconvenience me a number of times," said Agnes Wairimu.

The project to light up the market is expected to take two weeks.
