Traders operating odd hours at the Ikonge market in Nyamira County have been put on notice.

According to area Chief Ben Moranga, traders operating late at night have turned to be criminals.

Moranga on Sunday said traders should clear from the market at 9 pm daily failure to which police will arrest them.

“We want to tame crime in the area because we have realized that traders who operate late at night have turned to be thieves,” he said.

He said the traders have been colluding with boda-boda riders to steal and ferry other traders’ goods from the market.

“Soon we will regulate boda boda operations to curb theft among traders who hire the riders to ferry stolen goods to unknown areas at night,” he added.
