They filled the air with songs of anger and disappointment towards their leaders, whom they accused of making draconian rules targeting the youths, who are trying to make ends meet in the market.

"They have set up a kangaroo court where they try and fine us. Last week they beat a young man to an extent of being unconscious," said James Mwangi, a trader in the market.

They further said that the current leaders have not been elected by anybody, as there has been no election for 15 years now.

“They have imposed themselves on us and if you happen to be taken to the Kangaroo court, you are fined not less than Sh500 and suspended from the market for at least two weeks,” noted John Odhiambo.

They further added that many youths are now nursing injuries after senseless beatings from the said market leaders.

"Where is the right of these youths if even their private parts can be squeezed by these people?" asked James Mwangi.
