Traders in Kisii town have decried irregular electricity supply which has negatively affected their businesses.

The traders led by Patrick Orero, who operates a Kinyozi at Daraja Mbili on Thursday said Kenya Power should stop disappointing them by cutting electricity.

“Since Sunday we have closed businesses because Kenya power disconnects electricity without giving notice. We pay monthly bills but in return, Kenya power is frustrating us,” he said.

Robert Omwoyo, who operates a photocopying business at Market Plaza within Kisii town, said his business has recorded poor since Sunday.

Omwoyo accused Kenya power of not giving notice so that they can plan for alternative means of getting lights and power to operate their businesses.

“It will be good if Kenya power issues a notice in time because we depend on electricity to run our businesses so that we can look for alternatives. Persistent power outages have affected our businesses and we should be compensated for the losses incurred,” he said.

However, Kenya power official George Omwaro said the outages were caused by a fault on a major line.
