They lamented that for the last three weeks, the number of pigs has been increasing day by day, causing anxiety and panic among the traders.

The traders noted that the pigs scavenge in dumps and end up destroying their items at the market, leaving them counting huge losses.

Joyce Wangare, a trader at the market said she has lost goods worth Sh3000 to pigs, since they invaded the market two months ago.

Wangare noted that they have had problems with sheep and goats in the market, but it was not as bad as what they are experiencing with the pigs at the moment.

"I have lost my goods worth Sh3000 to pigs since they invaded the market, we do not want this animals here," said Wangare.

Julius Korir, another trader said the animals have become a nuisance in the market, creating an insecure environment, fearing that they can even eat their children.

Korir went on to urge the owner of the animals to tame them, or else they will kill them.

“Pigs have made the market insecure, if the owner will not lock them up, then we will kill them," said Korir.

The traders further urged the county government to look into their plight, saying it was important the matter was resolved.
