Over 100 traders operating kiosks on Njoro - Mau - Narok road are counting huge losses after the Kenya National Highways Authority demolished the structures on Wednesday morning.

The traders claimed the agency had promised to give them an alternative space before their eviction.

"We met with KeNHA officials with the aim to find a new location but we had not agreed on the date of demolition of our kiosks", said Lucy Nyambura, a kiosk owner.

Nyambura urged governor Lee Kinyanjui to intervene and help the traders restart their businesses.

"We pay revenue to the county. The county government under the leadership of governor Lee Kinyanjui should  help traders identify new spaces to start our businesses", she noted.
