Ogembo market traders have challenged Kisii county government to construct the market, erect street lights and construct matatu stage at Ogembo or they will boycott paying tax.
According to the traders the market is of poor environment, no streets lights, no matatu stage and they have given the county government seven days to respond.
Addressing the media on Thursday at Ogembo, market traders led by Justus Mariita said they have given the county government an ultimatum of seven days to respond and address their grievances or they will miss taxes as from December 2nd.
“We pay the tax and our governor promised to construct us the market so far nothing has been forthcoming,” said Mariita.
"From 2nd December we are not going to pay the tax until the county work for us," he added.
Traders added that Kisii county Governor James Ongwae has been on the spot recently over giving empty promises to county residents on development.
