Chairperson of small sector entrepreneurs Tony Kwache asked the leaders who organize the protests and confine them to specific routes to allow those not taking part go about their businesses.

His Kisumu Centre Juakali Artisans Association chairman Jacob Ouma called for peaceful protests which must only last up to midday to enable business to continue, saying they lost hundreds of millions during protests.

Asian community's Rafik Dhanji on his part said: "Kisumu is still haunted by the shadows of the 2007/08 post-election clashes and the destruction happening in Luo Nyanza Cord base must be condemned to forestall disaster."

They further said demonstrations should take place in various centres across the county to avoid infiltration of demonstrations by people seeking to engage in criminal activities and those looking to endear themselves to political parties.

"There is also no need of ferrying people from other sub counties into Kisumu, let people picket in centres near them if the cause is genuine," Kwache said on Sunday when business leaders met in to discuss how to manage protests.

He accused leaders of failing to stand with the victims.

Two people were killed and 76 others including two prison warders were injured in the past two demonstrations.
