John Kamau, a local medicine man was commissioned by the residents to perform the ritual of revealing suspects who have been terrorising Gilgil residents for a while.

Allegedly, the healer had received Sh8,000 from Sam Kimani to unearth a suspect who had stolen his three sheep and make the culprit eat grass. However, the ritual failed to work to the expectations of the eager and curios residents.

The residents grew weary when nothing happened and broke hell on the helpless traditional healer. The disappointed lot accused him of fleecing them and vowed to end his tricks.

“The healer is aggravating our situations. Instead of helping us he is piling troubles on us,” said Kimani, the conned man.

The traditional healer yielded to the demand of the angry residents and returned the money he had been paid for the duty.

Area chief Samuel Wainaina condemned the incident and urged the residents to seek other forms of justice from the Provincial Administration or the courts.

“My office is ready to offer help to residents who have fallen into the traps of conmen,” Wainaina said.

The chief expressed worry over the presence of many traditional healers in Gilgil town purporting to solve all sorts of problems. He urged the residents not to seek assistance from traditional healers as they have no capacity to solve their problems.
