Salgaa Traffic Base Commandant Walter Cheberen wants motorists using the Nakuru-Sachagwaan-Eldoret stretch to exercise more vigil, to reduce on the number of accidents along the highway.

Speaking to journalists in his office on Monday, the traffic police boss said that motorists have no option but to adhere to the laid down regulations.

Cheberen said that more traffic officers will be stationed along the road to deal with errant motorists.

“Our appeal is to motorists to exercise more action while using roads to reduce on the number of accidents,” he said.

The official also said that the number of accidents along the Salgaa stretch has reduced in recent days thanks to measures introduced by the National Transport and Safety Authority, and being implemented by traffic police.

The base commander noted that very few incidents were reported; adding that more measures and strategies will be put in place to curb road accidents.

 “The traffic law requires all road users to be careful and desist from acts that will result to accidents,” he added,

The police commander said that plans are underway to construct foot paths and crossing bridges for pedestrians using the road.
