He said that traveling through forests at night exposes the bodaboda riders to risk of being kidnapped.

“Forests have been the prime target areas where criminals kidnap bodaboda riders,” said Masinde.

Speaking on Friday at Molo Police Station during a security meeting, Masinde warned the riders to avoid such areas.

“Bodaboda riders should avoid travelling through forested area to avoid being kidnapped by criminals,” said Masinde.

Masinde said that cases of kidnapping could be avoided if the bodaboda riders scrutinise their clients to ascertain their motives.

“Before ferrying a passenger a bodaboda rider should first scrutinise him to know if he is a criminal,” said Masinde.

He said many bodaboda riders have fallen the victims of criminal for lack of scrutiny. He also urged them to cooperate with his department to minimise road accidents.

“By respecting road rules, bodaboda riders will save many lives,” said Masinde.

He urged bodaboda riders to carry one passenger and have the necessary traffic document.

Masinde further urged them to be careful this festive season to avoid unnecessary deaths.
