Kenyans woke up to gory news on New Year's Eve about the brutal murder of 36 innocent passengers on their way to Nairobi.

Their innocent blood filled the tarmac at Migaa area along the 14km Salgaa stretch.

Kenyans were fed with news of how a passenger bus, aboard city dwellers rushing back to Nairobi after whiling away Christmas upcountry, crashed into a trailer head on.

But unknown to many, is that the accident could have been stopped had traffic officers deployed along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway been abit serious on their job.

Survivors revealed that the bus had apparently lost brakes and started moving in a zigzag manner.

Traffic officers manning the road flagged it down and asked why the driver was driving so carelessly.

The driver, however, managed to put the officers in their place and was waved to continue with his journey.

30 minutes later, the bus was a shell with more than 30 people dead on the spot!
