The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has started training traffic officers in the North Rift region on how to shun corruption.
In the training, the officers are also being told of the consequences of engaging in corrupt practices.
EACC Deputy Director in charge of North Rift region Charles Rasugu on Thursday told journalists in Eldoret town that they have taken the step after the public complained of increased corruption by traffic officers in the area.
"The members of the public have come to us complaining that the traffic police officers here have become too corrupt and that is why we have decided to enlighten them on the subject," said Rasugu.
Rasugu has also revealed that already, the top police bosses from the counties of Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Turkana and Trans-Nzoia have received the aforementioned training.
"The training shall continue until all the officers are covered because many of them engage in corruption unaware of the implications of their actions," Rasugu said.
The training comes barely three weeks after three traffic officers were caught red-handed by EACC officers soliciting bribes from matatus in Eldoret Town.
