A section of parents in Nakuru County want the National Government to train the National Youth Service (NYS) officers in education sector.
The angry parents said that NYS youths would move in swiftly in case there was any teachers strike, hence children would not have to suffer.
Prisca Njambi a parent in Nakuru said that this would also help the youth to pocket an extra income.
“The Youths who undergo other strict training should also have a department of education where they would be trained in the current school curriculum. This will ensure that they can be called anytime the teachers go on strike and hence the normal school pattern is not interrupted at all,” said Njambi.
Another parents Joseph Kuria cited that there were more youths in the service who could be able to handle the children well.
“They are very good with children and they can offer better services as they do not have any bitterness against the government. Teachers in the country have become relaxed and hence they harass our children,” said Kuria.
