Training of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) polling clerks has kicked off, Friday, ahead of Tuesday General Election. This follows successful recruitment exercise by the Wafula Chebukati-led Commission at the Constituency level, last month. In Nairobi's Embakasi South Constituency, slightly over 1,400 polling clerks have been trained at the Kwa-Njenga Primary School, with trainers giving them an overview of what they are expected to do before and during elections day.Similar exercise was conducted at Muguga Primary School in Westlands Constituency, which experienced low number of persons who applied for the temporary job.Presiding Officers who are acting as the trainers, with other senior constituency officials however managed to handle the situation. The two-days exercise which ends Saturday August 5, will see the clerks take oath of office, to ensure they remain honest to their duties, as IEBC staff until the highly anticipated election is conducted.
