The Transition Authority (TA) has begun an audit of Kisumu County’s assets and liabilities held by the defunct municipal council before they are transferred to county government.
The audit started Monday this week and will be completed on November 7.
In a public notice signed by the county transition coordinator Seline Bonyo the authority has formed committees at county levels to handle issues pertaining to government assets and liabilities.
These committees work in consultation with the Auditor General to carry out the process.
“To ensure that the exercise involves all stakeholders, the TA has formed sub-committees at the county level to handle issues pertaining to government assets and liabilities.
These include lands, buildings, motor vehicles, computers, computer accessories, furniture, equipment, current assets, biological assets and liabilities such as loans, unpaid emoluments, unremitted statutory deductions, creditors and project of the defunct local authorities covering up to March 27 2013,” read the notice.
The committee has called on members of the public with has information on assets and liabilities of the defunct local authorities of Kisumu Municipal Council, Kisumu county council, Ahero Town council, Nyando county council and Muhoroni town council to write to the chairperson of the sub-committee officed in Kisumu.
The chairman of the Authourity, Kinuthia WaMwangi has in the recent past warned governors against disposing off any assets without following right procedure.
