Transition Authority has posted an interim clerk to Kisumu County Assembly following corruption allegations facing the former clerk.
Deputy Speaker Pamela Omino said the assembly had requested for a substantive clerk from the authority.
Omino said the assembly has been unable to perform its duties diligently in the absence of a substantive clerk.
She announced that the authority has posted Philip Otiende Adundo after an interview with seven other candidates.
Speaking to the press in her office in Kisumu on Tuesday, Omino welcomed the new clerk and asked him to perform his duties without fear or favour.
Omino said the new interim clerk will be sworn into office by a senior magistrate on Wednesday morning at the assembly chambers.
She said the interim clerk who was posted from the executive can continue being a committee clerk in the assembly or return for further posting.
“I wish the new clerk we are getting will help this assembly to deliver some of the services that have been pending as a result of the absence of a substantive clerk in this assembly,” he said.
The assembly minority leader Joshua Auko welcomed the new clerk noting that he will help the assembly to soldier on.
Auko said the assembly has been limping in offering services to the people of Kisumu and with the new clerk he is optimistic of good tidings for the assembly.
“It is a joy that at last the transition authority has posted a new clerk to our assembly,” he said.
The new clerk will serve under interim orders until the assembly will advertise for the position.
