Transport along the Mlolongo-Katani road has been paralyzed by the ongoing heavy rains in the area whereby a section of the road is filled with water.
Speaking to this writer some of the residents blamed the Machakos county government for failing to repair the road even after raising their concerns several times where they claimed that the road has had potholes for a long time.
"The road is impassable as it is flooded, this is because of the potholes that have been existing for a long time. We have been raising our concerns to the county government to repair this road to no avail," said Evelyn Wambui a resident in the area.
Some of the residents said they are forced to go round and use other routes like Kangundo road something which they said makes them late for work and other commitments.
However, the residents also blamed lorries which carry sand and stones from quarries nearby for playing a bigger part in destroying the road whereby they said the lorries are normally overloaded.
"I normally use Kangundo road in the morning and evening when am going to work and heading back home because the potholes in this road will derail. Also lorries which carry sand and stones from quarries nearby are overloaded which has damaged the road further," complained another resident Martin Kioko.
The residents have urged the county government of Machakos to take immediate action whereby they urged their area MP Patrick Makau to intervene before it's too late.
