[Photo VashMedia]Transport operations along Mombasa road were paralysed, near Mackinon Road, for several hours, Tuesday.There was huge traffic snarl up, after officials from a Chinese construction company constructing the highway, blocked it using lorries, and a caterpillar.Vehicles from both Nairobi and Mombasa, were denied passage, with travellers demanding to know why the road was blocked.A saloon car driver, identified as Rollins, who was enroute to Mombasa with his friends, said the road had been blocked for several hours, after rain started, and that the Chinese construction company officials feared that heavy trailers would destabilize the fresh tarmac.All vehicles had been directed to use a diversion, despite having a lot of stagnant water, due to the downpour.With help of traffic officers, the road was opened, to allow vehicles to pass, at around 6:02pm.As at 7pm, huge traffic was still witnessed.
