Residents of Mau Narok have called on the Government through the ministry of Roads to find a solution to the poor state of Mau Narok- Narok road in Nakuru County.
They spoke on Tuesday when transport along the road was paralyzed for the better part of the day after more than 100 vehicles got stuck in mud due to the poor state of the road.
The vehicles, mainly lorries transporting fresh farm produce, got stuck after heavy rainfall pounded the area on Monday night.
Vehicles transporting tourists to Narok also got stuck as motorists sought the help of tractors to tow their vehicles.
According to residents, the busy road has been impassable since last week despite the government awarding contract for its repair.
Locals said there is need for an emergency way of correcting the situation before the actual tarmacking of the road is done.
“We are afraid that in the near future it will be difficult for us to transport farm produce like pigeon peas, carrots and potatoes that normally do well in the area,” said one of the locals
