Hundreds of travelers continue to be stranded at Nairobi’s Easy Coach station due to NTSA’s nigh ban on all PSVs.
Many of those stranded include students, who were expected to return to school today for the first term.
Passengers at the booking office caused a stir, as many demanded they get a refund of their money or they be given alternative means of transport.
Many of those traveling to the Western part of Kenya had booked the bus as early as last year November, but the ban has affected them altogether.
The management of the bus said they would give the students priority, with other travelers fighting to also get a slot.
“We have been here since morning, there is no hope that we will travel, and they are saying they will leave here and when it gets to midnight, they will put the students at some place until morning. The question is how can you put boys and girls together at night, it is not possible,” said one parent who spoke to KTN.
The directive by the National Transport and Safety Authority that no PSVs will travel at night caught many by surprise, coming at a critical time when students are reopening schools.
