The Nation Treasury is planning to write to Parliament a proposal to reduce government spending.

This, the Treassury says, is in a move to supplement the presidential repeat election set for October 17.

Speaking at the launch of the Medium-Term Budget preparation process for  fiscal year 2018/19, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich said the Sh12.2 billion budget presented by the IEBC was likely to go past Sh15 billion.

Rotich said that this would come after factoring in related activities, mainly especially security measures to be taken in the repeat poll.

"We are in this regard reorganising the government planned spending for this year, which we shall in due course be submitting to the National Treasury for necessary approval," Rotich said.
