The county government of Kisumu has been asked to treat the minority and the marginalized groups equally in a bid to promote peaceful co-existence in the metropolitan county.
The Orange Democratic Movement nominated MCA Mohamed Aslam Khan, representing the minority and marginalised groups says the only way that the communities living in the county can peacefully co-exist is by having an inclusive governance structure that makes everyone to feel to be part of the system.
The politician warned that it will be very wrong for the county government to start marginalising some communities based on how they voted in the past or on their number.
He said doing that will promote animosity in an area where people have in the past lived peacefully.
"What the county government can do to ensure that everybody enjoys the fruits of devolution is by embracing oneness irrespective of where one comes from, their colour and the language they speak," he said.
"Let no one particular group, especially the minority and the marginalized be detached from the main system," Khan added.
He concluded by saying that Kisumu belongs to all those who live there and no one should feel more superior.
