News of the untimely demise of Garissa's seasoned Journalist, Boniface Ongeri has been received with utter shock across the entire North Eastern region where he majorly plied his media coverage.
Ongeri, a veteran journalist who was attached to the Standard newspaper from North Eastern town of Garissa made great friends by his positive coverage of the region, contrary to other media reporters who would only focus on the dark sides of the region.
The late Ongeri blended well with the local residents and even developed a good mastery of the Somali language which saw him synonymous to the local residents.
People who interacted with the journalist have eulogised him as a true son of the region, which they had always referred to as his second home and workstation.
Ongeri passed away earlier this week after a long illness. He had just gotten married and leaves behind an expectant widow.
