Employers in Nakuru expect a couple of things from their employees such as honesty, loyalty, trustworthiness, initiative and self discipline among other character traits.

However, most employees have found ways of being dishonest at their workplaces, some of their defenses being that they are not paid on time and that their salary cannot sustain their needs .

Some employees in Nakuru may argue that they are honest because they do not take things from their employers and their workplace without permission.

However, honesty is more that taking things as it also entails spending the allocated time on the task that one is hired for.

Stealing from an employer entails using the company phone for personal calls, checking personal e-mails from the company’s computer and texting using the company phone.

Some employees have also devised ways of stealing from their companies by indicating that they got to work on time when they know that they reported late or indicating an extra amount than what is required in cases where one needs the company to facilitate him/her so as to accomplish a task.

Employees who are trusted with the company car may also steal from the company by using the car to run personal errands whereas others may siphon the fuel as it is paid for by the company.

It is believed that employees account for 30% of all shortages in a company.
