The big fight is in Pool A where all eyes are this weekend as current leaders Trinity, who have 46 points after completing their fixtures, will be praying for second-placed Kwendo to slip up for them to earn a place in Division Two League next season.

Kwendo, who have 45 points with a game in hand, will go top and snatch the sole promotion slot in Pool A if they beat Kiptobit in their final tie this weekend as that will give them an insurmountable 48 points. Third-placed Motobo, with 39 points, host Chemoiben in their last match at the weekend but have no chance of getting promoted.

Thirty-two teams are participating in the league which is played in three Pools of A, B, and C with winners in each pool being promoted to Division Two. Meanwhile, Chepng’aina, who top Pool B with 44 points, has already earned a place in Division Two and so are Kamungei, the leaders of Pool C who have 38 points.

Kapsumet is second in Pool B with 36 points while Zoo U20 are in the same position with 31 points in Pool C meaning the two are out of the promotion race. FKF South Rift branch secretary Alfred Kirui is encouraged by a large number of youth who have shown interest in the leagues despite financial constraints.
