Minority Leader in the National Assembly Francis Nyenze has petitioned the Internationa Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Garissa Township lawmaker Aden Duale over alleged hate speech.
This is after an audio clip circulated online where a person alleged to be Duale was heard inciting Garissa resident against Kamba's living in the area.
According to Nyenze, Duale's comments can instigate a genocide.
“I appeal to the ICC to probe and prosecute Aden Duale for inciting ethnic cleansing especially at a time when the country is preparing for the general election,” said Nyenze while speaking in Kitui town on Friday.
Duale has however dismissed the clip as fake propaganda by his political rivals.
“We relate well with our brothers and sisters from Garissa who stay in the Lower Eastern region. They can also attest to the fact that they have never been challenged, prejudiced against or attacked by the natives,” said Nyenze.
