Leaders of the Economic Freedom Party from Mandera have threatened to quit President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
They are accusing Jubilee of plotting to rig them out by using the IEBC.
The EFP party leaders claim that voters from Mandera County have been transferred to various polling stations countrywide to block them from voting.
Mandera County EFP gubernatorial nominee Hassan Noor alleged that over 50,000 voters in their strongholds have been transferred to other polling stations, making it difficult for most of the voters to cast their ballot on August 8.
Noor accused Uhuru’s party of plans to rig them out in favour of the incumbents seeking re-election on the Jubilee Party ticket.
“EFP candidates Hassan Noor for governor, Hassan Osman for senator, woman representative, all six for National Assembly and 30 for MCA have been moved from where they registered to other polling stations across the country, making it hard for them to participate in the election,” Noor during a press conference on Saturday in Nairobi.
He also claimed that he had registered in Rhamu, Mandera, but found out later that he was now a voter in Langata constituency in Nairobi.
Osman claimed his name had been transferred to Kileleshwa, Nairobi.
Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow said the party was closely observing how Jubilee was treating them and would soon make a decision regarding the same.
“We are keenly watching, we have options and will not allow our votes to be stolen,” Kerrow stated.
The leaders hinted at joining the National Super Alliance (Nasa), Jubilee’s main rivals.
