Trouble is brewing in the Jubilee Camp, Western region after some members threatened to quit the party if Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa is not reappointed.

Led by Kimilili MP Didimus Barasa, the MPs said they are ready to join the NASA coalition if their ‘man’ was not given a cabinet slot.

The leaders, who spoke on Tuesday, said President Uhuru Kenyatta shortchanged them when he made the appointments, saying they expected their man to be on the team.

“CS Wamalwa was the face of Jubilee in Bungoma and Trans-Nzoia Counties.  Kicking him out has eroded the gains Jubilee had made in the region.  We shall have no business remaining in Jubilee after the ouster of our team leader Wamalwa,” said Mr Barasa.

Wamalwa was among the CSs who were not named in the first batch of cabinet secretaries by Kenyatta last week, where he retained six of his current lieutenants.

They further took issue with even the sharing of House Committee leadership positions in parliament, where they accused Kenyatta and his deputy of ‘grabbing’ all the positions.

“We tried to lobby during the Parliamentary Group meeting for some of our members to lead the committees in vain.  We instead ended up being duped and shortchanged by our colleagues,” he added.

The leaders are now pushing the president to ensure he includes Wamalwa in his second batch of the cabinet.
