A section of Kisii residents have called for the sacking of acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
The irate residents staged a demonstration against the outspoken Cabinet Secretary, accusing Matiang'i of failing to tame police brutality against Opposition coalition NASA supporters during the anti-IEBC protests.
They asserted that Matiang'i is allowing security officials to use excessive force against peaceful protesters.
“Matiangi should tell our police officers to respect our leaders. What they have been doing is a violation of basic human rights,” one of the residents was quoted saying.
Police officers lobed tear gas to disperse the protesters who had momentarily brought business to a stand still.
The protest against police brutality comes in the backdrop of a recent report released by Amnesty International, guaranteeing that up to 30 people have been killed by police officers since the August polls.
The government is yet to release an official statement on the report.
