Tension is building up in Bungoma county as Senator Moses Wetangula and Raila Odinga supporters are busy engaged in supremacy battles on which party between ODM and Ford Kenya should have the final say in the county.
Wetangula's party has been insisting that ODM should step down in favor of Ford Kenya since they are the dominant force in the area but the orange party is yet to cede.
Sources have also revealed of unsuccessful behind the scene pleas from Wetangula asking Raila to prevail upon his ODM candidates not to compete against Ford Kenya aspirants in the county.
Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi who also doubles up as Ford Kenya Bungoma chairman has also reaffirmed that they will not be bullied by ODM in their turf.
"We made sacrifices as a party and our leader stepped down for Raila's presidential bid. What is so difficult in them sacrificing Bungoma seats for us?" asked Wamunyinyi.
"We are going to make a major statement...ODM aspirants should step down," he added.
Earlier in May Ford Kenya Youth League secretary Wafula Wakoli accused Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya of going against NASA recomendations that had passed Western Kenya as an area under Ford Kenya and ANC control.
"Let's face the reality that unless we create order, we will lose many seats to Jubilee," he said.
However, ODM's Bungoma county secretary Majimbo Okumu dismissed Wamunyinyi's claims.
"This man, together with his party leader, must be out of their minds. We have invested as candidates...how do we step down?" Majimbo asked.
"If the party is popular in Bungoma, why panic? They know pretty well that they have been riding on our backs. We are going to take Jubilee as our competitors but Ford Kenya as our enemies," he added.
