American President-Elect Donald Trump has labeled Former Cuban President Fidel Castro a ‘brutal dictator who oppressed his own people’ even as the world continues sending tributes to the father of revolutionary movements.
Castro died at 90 on Friday after over 600 assassination attempts by the American’s CIA due to his Communist leadership in the poor Caribbean country.
Trump who beat Former First Lady Hillary Clinton earlier this month first tweeted ‘Castro is dead!’ before slamming the Cuban leader in a statement.
“Today the world marks passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his people for nearly six decades. His legacy is one of the firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and denial of fundamental human rights,” read his statement.
“Though the tragedies, deaths and pains caused by Castro cannot be erased, our administration will do all it can to ensure the Cuban people can finally begin their journey towards prosperity and liberty,” he said.
Castro will be remembered in Africa for his immense contributions towards achievement of independence in many countries through his efforts of deployment troops for reinforcement.
