President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to push for electoral laws changes before October polls has been termed by President Donald Trump as ‘poor international practice’.

Jubilee has initiated key changes in electoral laws among them trimming powers of IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.

And on Monday, Trump’s representative Robert Godec challenged the government to drop the amendments given that they may affect IEBC’s ability to deliver free and fair elections.

“Making changes to election laws days to elections is not the best part of internal practice,” he said, adding that the move could sabotage elections.

Godec added:”Let us avoid sabotaging IEBC from delivering free and fair elections. The laws should be dropped at least for now to avoid tension in the country.”

Already, opposition NASA has called for nationwide protests to oppose amendments of election laws which they claim are being fronted by Jubilee with ill intentions.

But Jubilee, through her numbers in parliament, has initiated public proceedings to gather views from people over the proposed laws.
