Through US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec, President Donald Trump wants cases of police brutality investigated with speed and culprits brought to justice.

A report by the Amnesty International claims that over 35 people have died from police related brutalities with most coming from Raila Odinga's strongholds.

"we are deeply concerned with cases of police brutality and we strongly call for investigation and subsequent prosecution of officers involved,' read part of Godec's statement.

For the past week, both US nad UK have been pushing for dialogue between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

With more cases of brutality reported during the presidential repeat poll on Thursday which was boycotted by Odinga, the US has also warned the government against allowing police to use excess force.

"We demand that the government ensures that security officers restrain from brutalizing innocent citizens.

Most parts that are perceived to be opposition strongholds have witnessed running battles between supporters of NASA and security officers.

The US is yet to send a congratulatory message to Uhuru despite his landslide victory.
