A group of ambassadors to Kenya have for the first time addressed the issue of endorsing President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee or NASA's Raila Odinga during the August 8 polls.

The envoys released a statement signed by  US, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, France, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, Portugal, Czech Republic, Ireland and Sweden representatives.

They denied endorsing either of the candidates during the August 8 polls.

"At no time did we endorse or prefer any candidate or party. We never asked any candidate to concede. Instead, we encouraged candidates with complaints to go to the courts in accordance with Kenya’s Constitution, and we publicly welcomed their decision to do so," the 12 ambassadors said.

They also hailed Raila's move to go to the Supreme Court after contesting the results of the August 8 polls.

The ambassadors called on Kenyans and political leaders to practice tolerance and peace during campaigns for the fresh election on October 17.
