[Photo|readwrite.com]The US State Department issued a statement expressing its deep concern on what is going on in the country.Following Friday Opposition's anti-IEBC demonstrations, the US government expressed concerns after police and protesters clashed in several parts of the country, destroying property and causing injuries to some protesters.In Nairobi, supporters of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party came out to counter those of Opposition's NASA leader Raila Odinga, forcing the police to intervene and disperse them.The US State Department, worried that both political divides had undermined efforts by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to prepare for the elections."Unfortunately, in recent weeks actors on all sides have undermined the electoral commission and stoked tensions," read the statement from the Donald Trump's government.The statement further indicated that the United States does not back NASA or Jubilee or Odinga or Uhuru, but it fully supports the work of the IEBC, whose chairman is Wafula Chebukati.The statement comes few days after foreign envoys, led by US Ambassador to Kenya, Robert Godec urged NASA and Jubilee to shelve their political demands and peacefully participate in the October 26 fresh presidential election.
