Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga should try to contest for smaller posts and leave along the presidency if he has to ascend to power.

This is according to political Leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

According to Kieni MP Kanini Kega, outgoing MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagoretti) and Ann Nyokabi, and politician Ann Kirima, Raila should concede the current defeat to President Uhuru Kenyatta allow Kenya to move forward.

“In every election, there is a number two. You either win or lose. Since there will be no coalition government, it is good for the presidential candidate to accept defeat,” Kega said.

“Let him agree so that the government can think of awarding him with a job that will be available.”

They were speaking at the burial of 50-year-old James Muriuki who succumbed to heart attack last week.

Waweru said that like other candidates who lost in the polls, Raila should accept the verdict of the IEBC or contest for a smaller post in Kibra.

“Don’t continue holding 45 million Kenyans [to ransom]. Concede and relax so that many Kenyans can respect you more. The results were credible since the observers also okayed them,” Waweru said.

“Kindly don’t burn this country since we are more than 45 million Kenyans, including your children and relatives. Give us time to build this country. We want to move forward,” Ann Nyokabi said.
