The Teachers Service Commission has announced 2,205 job vacancies.

The new teachers are meant to repplace those who left due to natural reasons.

Those to be replaced include teachers who retired, died or resigned between September 1 and November.

CEO Nancy Macharia has said that 1,681 teachers will be hired for primary schools and 524 for post primary institutions.

“Applicants for vacancies in primary schools must be holders of P1 certificates and will be selected from county merit lists compiled during the June 2017 recruitment exercise,” she said in the notice dated December 18.

Applicants for vacancies in post primary institutions must be holders diplomas in education and at most 45 years of age.

Interested candidates should apply to the secretary, board of management of the school or institution and submit a copy to the TSC county by January 5.

“TSC will only deal with county selection panels and boards of management in this exercise. Individual applications to the commission will not be considered,” Macharia said, and urged people living with disabilities to apply.

In post primary recruitment, Central will get 91 slots, Coast 30, Eastern 80, Nairobi 28, North Eastern 18, Nyanza 77, Rift Valley 128 and Western 70. Two slots will be reserved for tertiary institutions.
