A group of parents at a Masaba north secondary school has appealed to Teachers Service Commission to consider reinstating the school’s principal, who is said to have been transferred to a leading institution.
Speaking on Tuesday to HiviSasa.com, they asked TSC to consider reinstating Masara Ombori, who is said to have improved Riakworo secondary school’s performance since he took over in 2010.
According to them, powerful individuals have been behind the transfer motives of the teacher to Nyansiongo high school in the neighborhood due to his performance abilities.
“As a parent, I am really disillusioned. They should have left him alone because we really need him. He has transformed our school and therefore, we are not ready to let him go and that is why TSC and Knut should listen to our plea,” said Amos Nyabuto.
“We know some influential people have been targeting him for some time now but that is completely unacceptable. He is a great man and this institution still needs him so that our children can improve further,” said Paul Bogita.
According to them, during Mr Masara’s reign, the institution’s performance index improved from 1.78 to 5.75 in 2014 KCSE examination.
However, Mr Masara refused to give details about the looming transfer news and asked parents avoid believing in speculations.
“I am still school head and whatever people are saying about me, I really don’t know. People should avoid believing in rumors but after all, I have no powers over my employer,” Masara said on phone.
