The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Eldoret West chairman Kipchumba Arusei has blamed the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for the misfortunes facing transferred principals.

He said this is because they refused to consult teachers union.

“For the transfer to be successful TSC could have consulted teachers unions and not principals, look now what is happening to the principals, they are being chased away by parents. As a union we won’t allow our teachers to be moved right, left and center in the name of transfer,” he said in Eldoret town, Friday.

“By arbitrary transferring a principal who had a mean score of 9.4 and replacing him with one who had a mean score of 4, how do you expect parents to behave of course hostile,” he added.

He called upon the Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiangi to stop all these transfers with immediate effect to pave way for consultations.

“Any intended transfer should be discussed as to why you want principal A to be moved to school B. Since transfers are only affected if someone has underperformed and not overstaying,” noted Arusei.
